The first imagery we used in XR was skulls, so I tried something softer with this butterfly, inspired by the endangered Monarch, and also the ‘Swallow Tail’ butterflies, later I would scale up this to make a large block for printing on flags and banners.
The paper is 380mm by 290mm, with the image being 300mm by 180mm.
Lino print using vanSon Univeral Black ink on 410 gram Somerset Satin paper, the coloured papers are handpainted in very thin layers of Rosco’s artist’s concentrated paint.
